Attorney General Lisa Madigan says she won't run for Chicago mayor
CHICAGO — Democratic Attorney General Lisa Madigan said in a statement Wednesday that she won’t run for Chicago mayor.
Madigan’s name had emerged in the flurry of speculation about who might try to jump into the race to replace Mayor Rahm Emanuel in the hours after he announced he wouldn’t run again next year.
But she put an end to that talk with a brief statement.
“I am a lifelong resident of Chicago. I care deeply for the city,” Madigan said in a statement. “There are a lot of challenges facing Chicago, and I plan to continue helping as a resident and not as mayor.”
