Local elections approaching in Bonneville County

The Bonneville County Elections Office has announced there are three local elections coming up on Tuesday, including a trustee for the Bonneville County Library District, a bond for Shelley Joint School District 60, and a levy for Soda Springs Joint School District 150.

The election for Bonneville County Library District Trustee Zone 3 is between Rebecca Blackson and Jamie Fisher, according to a sample ballot. This will be for a four-year term.

For Shelley Joint School District 60, the special general obligation bond election is for a principal amount of up to $78,640,000. According to a sample ballot, its purpose is financing the costs of acquisition, construction, furnishing and equipping of a new high school; acquisition, construction, furnishing and equipping of a new career technical education (CTE) building and a new auditorium; and renovating and improving other existing school facilities.

The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed bond levy is $423 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions, according to the sample ballot.
