Honolulu had aerial fireworks going off all over the island as usual on New Years. Search on Youtube for New Years Eve 2025 and you will see thousands all over the place, especially in town but also on the Windward side. There is a drone video captured that shows the explosions in one house where it appears these had been sold, as there was a gigantic cache of aerial fireworks that were hit that all blew up.
So four people died including little kids, and 20 people are in the hospital. It was horrible.

(71,245 posts)of LEO are not going to do much to stop the problem when the people overwhelmingly want them and are quite willing for people to die if it happens. in my area it was quieter than usual and went to bed at 1130

(19,756 posts)Will we? Odds are you end up being right, but we shouldn't. It wasn't always this way. It definitely wasn't when I was growing up. Regular firecrackers, sparklers, sure. That's not what Josh Green is talking about.

(58 posts)I can understand New Years Eve and Lunar New Year and 4th of July but people pop off rockets and bombs All. The. Time. Just randomly! Even during drought conditions and fire watch warnings! Its ridiculously dangerous. Even when you have video, HPD cant stop it.
And now kids are maimed and dead; homes and cars are wrecked and our poor EMS workers are traumatized.

Are there still booms happening in your area today? Where I live, today for the first time ever they are not setting off bombs on new years day. I hope it stopped where you are too or will very soon. Its so upsetting.
They were going off all night and for a long while before occasionally. In my uncles neighborhood in Pālolo Valley, they were going off all the time.
