Low turnout so far for Floyd County elections
Fewer than 450 Floyd County residents cast ballots during the first week of early voting, which continues through Oct. 31 for the Nov. 4 general election. The election includes countywide ballot questions, a special election for two Georgia Public Service Commission seats and separate elections in Rome and Cave Spring.
According to the Floyd County Elections Center, 435 people voted through Friday and 56 had requested absentee ballots by mail.
The elections center at 18 E. 12th St. is the only early voting site for all local voters except Cave Spring residents. It's open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will offer weekend voting Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 5 p.m.
Voters in the Cave Spring election can cast ballots at their community center, 10 Georgia Ave., weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.
