District 1 City Council candidates share their priorities ahead of the Statesboro election

Statesboro voters will see a familiar matchup on the November 4, 2025 ballot, as incumbent Tangie Johnson and challenger John Grotheer once again vie for the District 1 City Council seat. The race marks a rematch of the 2024 special election, which Johnson won to complete the unexpired term of former Councilmember Phil Boyum.

Grice Connect reached out to both candidates, asking the same set of questions on growth, taxes, community engagement, and priorities for the city. Their responses are presented below as submitted, without edits or commentary.
