Mail-in ballot total jumps

With Florida entering the final month before the Nov. 5 election, the number of voters casting mail-in ballots has started to accelerate.

Data posted Friday, Oct. 4, on the state Division of Elections website showed that 76,587 mail-in ballots had been received by elections supervisors, up from 42,573 a day prior.

The Friday total included 32,688 ballots cast by Democrats and 28,216 cast by Republicans. Also, 13,928 unaffiliated voters and 1,755 third-party voters had cast ballots, according to the data.

As of Monday, Oct. 7, 1,460 mail-in ballots had been received at the Monroe County Supervisor of Elections office. Monday was the last day to register to vote in the General Election on Nov. 5.

However, I’m sure the supervisor of election will have a plan. Since this is a literal 100 year storm (last time Tampa was hit was 1921), they will definitely have provisions on how to vote with another ballot.
