https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article244135532.htmlPresident Donald Trump stepped off Air Force One Friday in Miami without a mask into one of the worst coronavirus hot spots in the country.
The president, who flew into Miami-Dade County to visit the U.S. Southern Command and hold a Venezuela roundtable at a church in Doral, was exempted from a Miami-Dade County mask-wearing mandate thanks to carve-outs in the emergency order for churches and properties under federal jurisdiction. At Miami International Airport, where the order does apply to the general public, Trump did not have to don a facial covering since he was expected to head directly from the plane into the presidential limo on the runway, according to an airport spokesman.
But Trump didnt head straight to the limo.
When he arrived at 12:15 p.m., Trump walked down the planes stairs and spoke briefly with Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, who is running for Congress with Trumps endorsement and imposed the mask-wearing rule as COVID-19 cases have soared. Gimenez appeared to lather his hands with sanitizer before Trump emerged from the plane, but the two did not shake hands, opting instead for an acknowledgment that was halfway between a nod and a bow.

(10,109 posts)if he came down here, then he just limped out like Trumpy does in Putin's presence. Weak so-called leader - why don't you just come out and say you don't care if we all die!!!! Just say it, already.

(1,979 posts)It is not like people are not informed on the dangers of not wearing a mask, they are and they are CHOOSING to expose themselves with that knowledge. Let them go un-masked among themselves to their hearts content, but it is up to you and I to stay away from them and protect ourselves.
As for myself -unless there is an absolute need, I stay inside. When I do need to venture out to the store or to work, I have my masks and my sanitizer. When I get home from the hospital I immediately "decontaminate" by taking a shower and washing my work clothing before I interact with my family.
I'm in Orlando and we are NOT safe. Sending our children to school in the middle of this is unthinkable to me. I don't know what the answer to that is, but I am extremely fearful that sending our kids to school is a huge mistake. Do you know how fast lice are spread in a school? How fast colds and flu are spread from classroom to classroom? And they are going to expect our underpaid teachers to manage to keep 20-30 kids germ free, socially distanced, sanitized?
If we had followed the NYC protocol we would not be facing the issues we are facing in Florida right now - or in any other state that is spiking high right now. We were shown, daily, how to manage this crisis and turn the curve, but because the leader was a Democrat, the GOP run states don't listen and instead endanger the lives of millions.
We are on our own.
