SPRING FEVER! Cherry blossom trees reach green bud, the first of 6 bloom stages.

On Thursday, the Yoshino cherry trees on D.C.'s Tidal Basin reached green bud, the first of six bloom stages, according to the National Park Service.

Cherry blossoms typically reach peak bloom around the tidal basin sometime between late March and early April, according to the NPS. This year, the first peak bloom prediction, which was announced Monday, is April 2nd to April 5th.


The six bloom stages are as follows.

Green color in buds
Florets Visible
Extension of Florets
Peduncle Elongation
Puffy White
Peak Bloom

Only time I'de been ANYWHERE...it was amazing and I have tons of pics of Mt Vernon and the Mall in full bloom!
