Trump commutes prison sentence of Arkansas Rep. Steve Womack's son What to know

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — On Thursday, President Trump officially commuted the federal sentence of the son of U.S. Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark).

Reports show that James Phillip Womack was arrested back in September 2018 when he was 31 years old on more than 10 charges, including multiple related to drugs and firearms.

In the federal case where he received the commutation, he was indicted on April 26, 2023, on one count of distributing over five grams of meth and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was sentenced in federal court in May 2024 to eight years in prison for distributing more than grams of methamphetamine.
