Anyone has been watching Atlantic Crossing on PBS?

interesting and, supposedly based on real events. Certainly the first two episodes describing the horror of the Norwegian Royal family are true. We have been familiar with the major events in Central Europe but not much - at least I have not - with the Scandinavian countries which wanted to remain neutral and were no match for the Nazi war machine.

1. Very well done

I don't like to read too much about historical dramas like this because you often end up knowing the outcome. So i don't know a lot of the history but I did know the Norwegians continued to fight the Nazis while the other Scandinavian countries didn't. I think it's well-acted and written. I am glad to see more European series being shown here, and they are not letting subtitles stop the introduction of them. The Investigation from Denmark was on HBO with subtitles and it was excellent.

2. Very interesting. Another really good film on the same basic topic

is The King's Choice, which is about how King Haakon threatened to abdicate if the Storting capitulated to the Nazis and Quisling. The little boy Harald in the tv series is now the king of Norway. Another interesting thing about the series is that King Haakon, who was actually Danish, is speaking Danish, while Crown Princess Märtha, who was Swedish, is speaking Swedish along with the other members of the Swedish royal family, except that her mother Princess Ingeborg was speaking Danish; and mostly everybody else was speaking Norwegian and they could all easily understand each other - the Scandinavian languages are really just a collection of dialects.

4. I don't know much about Sweden and Norway

in WWII, just some general info.

But several years ago I read a book about the Danish resistance called A Night of Watching. It's fiction, but based on fact. Don't know if it was ever made into a movie, but it would make a good one.

Sunday nights are PBS nights. I am learning more about that part of WWII.

Love Escape To The Chateau. My Grandparents War is another good one before Masterpiece.
