the elephant trunk nebula IC 1396

took me a little while to process this until i was happy with it
7 hours of exposure in my backyard

the neubla is a star forming region 2400 light years away. Its lit by the str in teh center which is actually a triple star system of 3 very massive stars each 10-30x as massive as the sun

its an 80mm scope with a 500mm focal length. attached to it is an astro modded sony a6300 camera

Stunningly beautiful

But I don't see the elephant trunk unless it's that thing hanging down just above the brightest star?
