It really helps to have great equipment, both camera and lens and tripod! Plus knowing how to use them helps too.

11. I have an 8" Dobsonian and try my hand at astrophotogrphy

I love observing the planets and the moon. I have a sun filter and enjoy getting my telecop out during the daylight hours. I really enjoying looking at photos like the one you posted, especially high quality.

13. Oh I'm sorry you had to go through all that! I suspect you'll be fine now.

People with telescopes have a huge advantage over us ordinary mortals! But telescopes are expensive and heavy.

Are you going to try to see the total solar eclipse in 2027? I think that's the date. The totality will be, at maximum, SIX MINUTES! I have plans to get to Egypt where that totality will happen. I'm probably crazy!

15. Telescopes arent too terribly expensive, but, they're like a lot of things; you can spend....

as much as you want. I dont recall specifically, but I paid around $600 give or take. There are all kinds of accessories to get different grades of eyepieces and gadgets to connect iPhones to the scope.

There are a couple of websites that let you know about “things” that are moving around that you can look for. I love watching out for the International Space Station. SpaceX satellites are frequently visible. The moons of Jupiter, Saturn’s rings, lunar crators, and sun spots are other interestng phenomena I enjoy observing!
