Went to the h.s. spring concert last week

Super good energy. You could tell the students were part of more than a class. At the end of the evening, there was a senior recognition ceremony. About 12 of the kids in the advanced choir will graduate. As each was recognized, the elementary level music teacher read a short paragraph about each student's plans, as their current music teacher handed each one a rose. While I understand that being in h.s. choir doesn't lead to fame and fortune, one of the students is a very good singer, with charisma and classic good looks. I heard them sing a solo at the winter concert, and then a solo in this concert. As the other kids' plans were read, college, some planning a music career, the one kid who to me, really stood out, had plans to join the military and work in building trades. All of the students were teary, but this student was trying and failing to hold back tears.
I loved the concert. I was overcome the first song, and had to struggle to stop my tears. I wanted to jump to my feet several times to start a standing ovation, but I think my daughters were really glad I held back But seeing the end of the high school years hit reality got to me. It's been hard to not think about it and wonder how it'll turn out for that particular student.

Especially end-of-year ones like this. The kids and the teachers really pour their hearts and souls into these events.

And I can’t believe how our right wing “lawmakers” want to de-fund schools to the bare bones because they hate education, and usually it’s the arts and music programs like these that get cut first.

But my credit goes to the music teacher. it amazes me, the performance he is able to get from elementary school mids.
