Gail Ann Dorsey

I posted about "Heroes" by Bowie, then I realized that I really liked the bass on it, then I researched who the bass player was in the live version I liked. I found out that it is Gail Ann Dorsey, who was raised about 30 min from my home and had previously played with Tears for Fears. I found a great interview with her, talking about moving to England to overcome barriers (gender and racial stereotypes) because Europeans were (are?) more advanced than us. She should be an inspiration to all women artists:

Thank you for all this! I, too, have always liked that bass line in Bowie's "Heroes". And I've always loved Tears for Fears.

What a shame that Gail Ann had to move to Europe because we are so backward in this country. I wish her much success in future endeavors.

. . .at what used to be called Tweeter Center. Not sure what it's called anymore. It's still hosting concerts though. An outdoor venue in the south suburbs of Chicago.
