Chicago Police reportedly investigating claims Dennis Edwards was abused before death
(WIAT) - Chicago Police are investigating an allegation of domestic abuse that was reportedly inflicted on Alabama native and former Temptations member Dennis Edwards weeks before his death, according to CBS Chicago.
CBS Chicago reports that a domestic violence allegation was filed on Jan. 8 which alleged that Edwards was the victim of domestic violence in December.
According to The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, an investigator with the Healthcare consortium of Illinois filed a request for an order of protection on Jan. 12.
The request alleges that Edwards' wife Brenda tried to suffocate the singer by holding him facedown on a bed. Edwards was allegedly bed-bound and immobile at the time, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The order was granted on Jan. 18, after he'd been removed from their home in Chicago due to medical issues.
