About 1973? A fictional account of Junior Johnson's beginning in stock car racing; he was a legend and one of the early stars and died only a few years ago. He's called Junior Jackson in the movie. Junior Johnson was a huge Democrat and held big barbecues on his farm to benefit the democratic party in NC and the area. He lived in and was from Wilkesboro, in Wilkes County; it's also where actor and comedian Zach Galifianakis is from and still owns a home.
I live just a few miles from Wilkes County.
