...the Easton's guitar & Hawkes' keyboards was groundbreaking.
Bands like Deep Purple & Uriah Heep had some of that, but that was mostly guitar & organ.
With The Cars, the keyboard sounds were far more diverse& stylish.
Plus, Elliott Easton was a guitar god. So tremendously underrated.

Rick Beato breaks down “Just What I Needed.” Fantastic! I’ve heard this song a thousand times but now hear so much more in it.

The focus on Elliot Easton is toward the end.

I used to require my intermediate guitar students to learn this solo.
It's singably melodic, yet is loaded with guitarisms one must have im the toolbox.
Not one student ever had regrets about having to learn this solo. There's so much guitar to learn in that 30 seconds!!!
Eliott is #1 on my underrated great guitar player list.
