Sad that Buddy Holly could never plug in with the Dead and do "Not Fade Away"....he would have loved this sound.

(2,470 posts)1. Thanks. Every time I listen to him play, I wonder
where his mind was going this time.
He had to originalize often to keep it fresh.
He was a player in a world all his own.

(27,764 posts)2. Can you imagine the Dead in 1968 with Ron McKernan and Buddy Holly.....opening with "Oh Boy"
and shutting it down with "Not Fade Away"....would have been an epic meld of music from the 50's to the 70's.

And Billy the K got it.
The Bo Diddley Beat was always a key component of their sound.
