What an amazing vocal performance! NIN

I just recently realized I didn’t have Pretty Hate Machine in my library somehow. Ordered it. Haven’t heard most of this record in decades. But now this tune is on a constant loop in my head. The piano is so haunting!

Anyway, I was a hair band guy. I wanted to go to the beach, party, and hook up with strippers when this came out. Which I did! LOL! (Until I met Mrs. Glam who wasn’t insane, fell head over heels, and moved in with her.) Point being(Cmon Glam), I was never angry or depressed. Full of angst or self loathing. I mean, I sang plenty of the blues but I had crazy girlfriends and was a broke musician. But mostly I was a David Lee Roth. Nah mean? Not that I sounded like him, but always smiling.

I’m blown away by this performance because Trent is able to vocalize, sorrow and loss. Self loathing and self hatred. In short, a tortured soul. I was always pretty good at what I did, but I’m pretty sure I couldn’t pull off the emotion necessary for this song. Unbelievable performance.

They opened for Bowie. Maybe the Glass Spider tour?
We saw David on that tour, but I've seen him 5 times (twice before I met my wife, 3 times with her) so I might be confusing the tours.
Nine Inch Nails opened the show, the David played. On "I'm Afraid Of Americans", Trent came our & played it David's band.
For the 2nd entire, both bands cane out and dud a couple sings together.
Wonderful show.
