1. Did This In A Battle Of The Bands

It was on the list, I knew the words, and we figured nobody else would pick that song.
We won the contest, but our big production number probably had more to do with it than La Bamba did.
But, it sure is a fun song to sing!

2. Good for you, great choice. La Bamba is the definition of PARTY!

At a housewarming event we played it at least 2 hours by popular demand. Bravo Ritchie Valens.

3. There Were 105 Songs On The List Each Year

Mostly 50s, 60s, & 70s. Each band picks 3 tunes.
Then, you only play the equipment that is there. We got to being "picks & sticks". That's it.
Their instruments, their amps. No adds like pedals or extra keys or added percussion.
Do your 3 songs, get off the stage so the next band has time to set up, he ready & play EXACTLY 20 minutes from the time the prior band started.
Would get like 20 bands playing for 400 minutes or 6⅔ hours.
The money was huge for only playing 3 songs.
And, we got to meet some pretty good other bands.
We did it 3 years in a row & won all three times.
We quit when we didn't want to come off as greedy.
