I have recently developed a passion for woodworking

Hello DUers,

I have recently developed a passion for wood working, primarily with making end grain cutting boards on my CNC. I have also started publishing the making process to my Youtube channel.

If it is ok, I would like to post my make videos, and of course welcome comments. If you also like woodworking, please feel free to offer your suggestions to improve my craft.

I don't do this commercially, or offer anything for sale. For now, it is strictly something to occupy my free time when I have it.

My favorite project, and even a little bit elaborate, is a Nebraska Cornhusker end grain cutting board.

Please feel free to take a look, and if you like it, please share your thoughts with me. If this is inappropriate for this forum, please let me know.

I sealed with a combination of bee's wax, and food grade mineral oil. This is a functional cutting board, so can be used with food, without the risk of contaminating the food.

The woods I used were Purple Heart, Padauk, Maple, and Ash.

You are correct. I got the recipe from another YouTuber, and mixed something like 24 6oz. Tins for less than $12.00. The commercial stuff will cost you that much or more for a single 4 or 6 ounce bottle.

I had some very good teachers to learn from on YouTube. Lot of good creators in this field.

Thank you for the compliment! I definitely use good hearing protection. On another note, since I made that video, I changed over to a air-cooled VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) spindle, which has as much power as that Dewalt router, but at it's highest setting isn't even close to as loud as the Dewalt.

I can actually run the CNC all night in the Garage, and not hear it outside of the garage.

Post more hopefully. 👍

A cousin of mine turns bowls, and does various cutting boards probably the end grain kind.

I love to watch wood turning videos. Fascinating to watch. Meditative, too, for me.
