(9,314 posts)I thought the show last week was pretty good, and I wish they had just given it a little more time to find its footing. I know the loss of Will was devastating, as well as the departure of "Kalinda." But overall, I think this show was one of the best ever aired. The writing was just stupendous, the relationships between the characters so "real" and the plot twists were really great.
One thing that really made it a standout was that it just had no many talented actors, great, great people.
There was one steamy scene between Will and Alicia in which she smiled down at him and said, "I have never been happier" that was just so beautiful, I think I will never forget it. What a love affair....
There is no other show on television I watch as religiously as this one.

There was so much potential, there! Ah, well....this, too, must pass I guess.
I'll tell ya, when they killed Will, I felt as bad as when they killed Brian on Family Guy....but they bought Brian back! Alicia needs to borrow Stewie's time machine...LOL!
Samantha
(9,314 posts)And that would have been great if they had ended up in DC. Maybe they would have let visitors check out the set!
I am really, really going to miss this show. It was so impressive in so many ways. And we haven't even mentioned Alecia's wardrobe!

(14,040 posts)The relationships there really helped to create good tension between the characters.
I stopped watching religiously when they wrote Kalinda off. She was by far one of the most interesting characters on the show (which is why, IMO, Juliana M. had her written off) and the show just wasn't the same without her.
MADem
(135,425 posts)I got irritated when they had a dodgy schedule. It wouldn't be on for weeks at a time, then it would be on again...and they've changed the night--it did better on any night but Sunday, when HBO and SHOWTIME...to say nothing of PBS, have so much material on offer.
I had heard that Archie Panjabi and JM didn't get along--a shame, because yes, she was a complex character!
justiceischeap
(14,040 posts)The show was supposed to be JM's baby but Archie got the most press and accolades for her performance.
I was disheartened with the show when they purposely broke that relationship between the two because it was such a good relationship. Then Josh Charles left, then they wrote off Kalinda and the show never really found its footing again.
Of course, then they have a great chemistry between Alicia and Eli and they even (last I saw) ruined that relationship.
The show kinda deserves to be cancelled after so many boneheaded moves.

(135,425 posts)He confessed about erasing Will's voicemail. That whole voicemail thing was a bit of a stretch, anyway.
In real life, people speak face to face about things, and they don't let things go without at least trying to resolve differences.

(27,219 posts)And really how could the show go on without her. I loved this show, but felt it lost it's way a few times. The whole Peter running for President was a real stretch. I'll miss it but it ran it's course. It would appear from the ending of the last episode that Alicia may be going back to Lockhart & Agos so she'll end up where she started. I hope it ends well for all the main character, Alicia, Cary, Diane and Eli. I suspect Alicia will finally hook up with Jason.

(135,425 posts)I mean, after all, John KASICH is running for President! John WHO?
And he's still in it!!!
I think they should have run him for a Senate seat. Peter, I mean--not Kasich (LOL!). Of course, it's not normal for a sitting governor to run for the Senate, though it's quite normal for them to run for POTUS (as Block That Bridge Christie will tell us!).

(60,117 posts)They said they had written a 7 season Good Wife.
So after this season, it would have been up to new writers. Guess CBS decided to not risk it without the original writers.
EXCELLENT writing is what keep me hooked.Every episode seemed fuller and longer than it actually was.

(8,039 posts)in April a couple weeks ago. Since she is the star and a writer of the Good Wife I figured that it boded the end of the show. It is a shame but the writers, including Margulies seem to have no idea what to do with her character. I really like the show but both I and the SO have said every episode the last 2 years that the writers were going to ruin it.

The actor who played that part (I think his name is Josh Charles??) burned out. That was the reason he wanted to leave. Perhaps the show could just never rise to that same level without him, but it does have some other really great people. I think where it went wrong was just not finding the exact right person to succeed Will in Alicia's love life.

(9,314 posts)You will probably call the men with the white coats on me, but it would be a stunner, and it could rationally be very well explained.
Sam
elleng
(141,194 posts)Samantha
(9,314 posts)A "rational" explanation might come from the fact that his death had to happen openly, in public, so there would be no question. Why? Because the FBI was moving him into the witness protection program.
Will had been receiving death threats, and the government thought Bishop was behind them. As Bishop's attorney, Will had a lot of information about the criminal side of his business. Information the government desperately wanted because putting Bishop out of business was a top priority to them. Yes, Bishop came to the firm towards the end of that segment saying he wanted to close out his enterprises to have a regular life for the sake of his son. That was a charade. He knew the government was getting close, and he needed to get out. He also needed to eliminate any evidence and witnesses that could literally "hang" him. Will was one of those people.
Yes, Will was not allowed to reveal what he knew because he acted as Bishop's attorney. But if the threats against his life continued, hanging on to his law license would not be a top priority. Having an opportunity to lead a normal life in the witness protection program, just starting over again and out of Bishop's reach was his top priority. And perhaps that new life could include Alecia if she too were willing to give up everything. After all, her two children were entering college and the damage done to her marriage never really healed. She could join Will if she truly wanted to, and what a wonderful gift that would be to the viewers who have loved this show for years....
Remember her whispered words in that beautiful love scene when she said to him, "This has been the happiest I have ever been" ... words to that effect.
The staged death scene was intended to convince Bishop he had no more worries about what danger Will could do to him. But just as a backup scenario, Will had given video depositions and therefore testimony against Bishop's enterprises. He also turned over other evidence. So the government had what it needed to put Bishop away, but the trade-off was it had to promise Will a safe, long life. Thus the staged death and subsequent witness protection program life.
This is another factor that prompted Kalinda to disappear. She too knew too much about Bishop's business.
The Bishop matter has now been handled, and I think a "stunning" end to this series -- they have announced it will be a "shocker" -- is that Alecia learns Will is in fact alive. One of the last scenes could possibly show just her walking towards him and the ensuing reunion. What happens afterwards, we do not know.
What could be read as a "clue" was recently dropped when Alecia suddenly asked Eli out of the blue what had been in the second recorded message Will left for her on her phone that Eli surreptitiously deleted. Part of the message Eli reported Will had said was that he was ready to give up everything, his current life, his law practice, everything for just the two of them to be together. It was odd this was thrown into that script at that time, but it did remind the viewers just how much Will loved Alecia and what all he was willing to give up to have a life with her.
****************
This is pure speculation. But if the series ends in a fashion that has a "shocking" but wonderful, happy ending that would be an appropriate finale to an outstanding show that for seven years gave us an incredible source of entertainment.
Okay, elleng -- any possibilities, any thoughts?

And of course, she'd got to hit the sack w/that investigator...so there's conflict at the end.
Which one will she choose?
Samantha
(9,314 posts)and there is just something about Will one could never get over. That sexy voice for one when he was filled with lust for Alecia. They had a certain chemistry going on that just doesn't fizz up to the same level with the new investigator.
Where could we drop kick this ending so that Will could be resurrected for just a few fine moments in time?
Glad you liked it--sure beats the heck out of him being cold and six feet under! He didn't deserve that.

(912 posts)I was shattered (figure of speach) when he was killed. Didn't help that it was a week after my Father's death.
The way those two looked at each other - it was true love. And yrue pain when she left him. Even her campaign manager has sizzle. Hate her with Jason. And Chris Noth reminds me ofy cheating boyfriend 30 years ago so I'm not team Peter.
Agreed - they jumped the shark after they had her leave. And the CBS scheduling doesn't help. It's also going to kill CSI Cyber.
I'll just have to be satisfied with YouTube and THAT elevator scene.
