Freaky (to me at least) Factoid re: Miles Davis and Chuck Berry:

They were born and raised within 15 miles of each other in St Louis area. Possibly the two biggest giants of 20th century popular music. I dunno, just strikes me as odd.

Bonus Factoids: 1) They were both born within 6 months of each other in 1926 so we are current celebrating the centennials and 2) according to google, they never met.

but they all left as soon as humanly possible.

Yogi Berra, John Ham, Fontella Bass, Maya Angelou, Josephine Baker, T Bone Burnett, William Burroughs, Jimmy Connors, Phyllis Diller, Robert Duvall, Charles Eames, Buddy Ebsen, and T.S. Eliot, to name a few.

St. Louis is a place where the people who really "count" are incredibly resistant to change and anything that upsets the status quo.

For instance, we could have been the headquarters of AT&T, but they wouldn't let the then president of Southern Bell join the most exclusive country club because he "wasn't the right type of person."
