Read a book, no question.

When you read a book, you are making the movie in your head. The book is the script, but you are the director. You control the cast, the setting and the costumes where the script doesn't specifically describe, and all nuances that are, also, not sharply defined. And, if you wish, since it is your personal movie, you can add scenes and scenaries.

Books over movies in almost all instances.
