Large numbers of deer of all sizes and genders roam around my town with impunity. They are brazen and you have to make an effort to chase them off. They will invade your yard, massacre your garden, flower beds, shrubs and anything else green that attracts their attention. Just a couple of weeks ago a little one point hit my yard and wiped out 40 pepper plants that were approaching harvest in one sitting. That is extremely frustrating. And of a more serious concern, a buck that size in rutting season can be extremely dangerous. At that time of year you need to keep a watchful eye and stay well away from an animal that size. On occasion they become so brazen the game warden is forced to shoot an animal that has become overly aggressive.

I summary, wildlife belongs in the wild, not in an urban setting.

That little guy ought to be glad he's living on Angel Island, where's he's safe from hunters and well-fed by tourists.

Quiet magic. Utterly mesmerizing to watch.

We’ve seen deer around the neighborhood and I just wanna run out there and pet ‘em and hug ‘em and love ‘em! And maybe even give them some treats. They’re completely fascinating!

But I know better, so I resolutely stay at a distance.
