The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsJust watched a dog food commercial on TV.
It had the oddest musical scoring. It used the prelude to Richard Wagners opera, Das Rheingold. Strangest choice ever for a dog food advertisement.
I have to ask: whats in my drink?

(98,466 posts)I never spent much time on Wagner, not many good singing parts, but I somehow sense that the music's historical qualities didn't play much of a role in the choosing of it's placement in the ad. I watched it and I think it was selected solely for the slow crescendo that builds to a finale that seems to match the moment the vendor wanted to imply at the end.
Does that make sense?
