Then the mother would go forage and come back a few times a day - i think to nurse the fawn. I think deer have reassess that humans are no longer a predators and a garden is a safe place. The elk in the town of Banff Alberta certainly think the town is free of predators. They overrun the place. Animals are learning. Wait until they find out what we are doing to the climate.

and had planned her yard to look like a park. The neighborhood is still woodsy, with houses spaced apart, and there is a deer herd, about 9-12 critters, who browse through the yards on the street. The last couple of years, my friend had fawns parked right near her house-by the water feature, in the side yard, in the butterfly garden, beside the garage. The Mom moved the fawn almost daily. My friend had a lot of fun watching it grow and get ready to be on its own. I was up there a lot last summer and got some nice pictures of the herd. Mostly eating my friend's flowers

but they keep an eye on them.

Last night I drove into my driveway and there were two fawns chomping away on my begonias and other flowers. Off to the right on my neighbor's property, both mom and dad were lurking in the trees, watching.
