Let's hope and pray that the 100,000+ tourists flooding our little town today DON'T have any illegal fireworks!
Did you know South Lake Tahoe only has a population of 22K or so...? That means we'll have 5x -6x the people/cars in town JUST for today/this weekend!! If there was a fire and we needed to evacuate, it would take over 12 hours...
I don't like windy days anyway in summer when there's no rain in the forecast...but on THIS particular weekend, it's a little nerve-wracking. I think the Caldor Fire gave us all PTSD. I guess it's a "good" thing I left my sprinkler on too long yesterday...

(2,136 posts)the north shore. I think it was the third of July 1982 we had snow flurries. It warmed up some the next day but that is coldest fourth I can recall in 60 years.
A lot of people in town as always.

(15,523 posts)South Shore will be THAT mch more crowded... ew, people.
You can see all the fireworks from any slightly elevated spot around the lake. Just not as much fun when they are right overhead.
Enjoy your fourth and stay out of the crowds

(15,523 posts)I never really liked fireworks anyway. I never understood the idea of celebrating bombs when bombs are falling on children all over the world.. that's just me. Besides who wants to celebrate this year anyway? 😔

(2,136 posts)A lot of very cute young ladies visited the lake and I was a young man,
I loved the crowds then.
Jerry Ford was president and it could have been much worse.
