(21,907 posts)New tires, new windshield, new brakes, new transmission and timing belt DONE and the person I bought it from gave me an entire notebook of everything that has been done to it, including an oil change just last week!
Its ready to go and being I only drive about 2-3K a year, it should work out fine for me as I'll be using it to go to the store and other places nearby. The insurance on it will be less than $350 a year and I CAN AFFORD IT! YES!
It is a necessity for me and my eyesight in my good eye is at 20/15 luckily! So, I am good to go!
I've have a only a few cars in my life but this one is the best deal I've ever had and I am so thrilled to have found something so cool and so well-maintained.
I was looking for two months and it was looking like another $10K for something decent. I was about to give up and this popped up the other night being sold from someone that lives close-by.
I got lucky, that's what I think!
Thanks for the positive vibes!

(20,352 posts)I've been listening to it since the 70s, and it gives me the chills to this day.
It's Robert Hunter's lyrics...
Jack Straw and Shannon were on the run. Shannon was moving too slowly...
"Jack Straw from Wichita cut his buddy down...and dug for him a shallow grave and laid his body down".
Did Jack kill Shannon, or was Shannon hanged and Jack cut him down from the noose?
Ponder that on your birthday!

(21,907 posts)I have the book that was recently published, "The Silver Snarling Trumpet: The Birth of the Grateful Dead―The Lost Manuscript of Robert Hunter".
Haven't finished reading it but what a gem!
Thanks for the birthday wishes btw!

(7,425 posts)Sounds like the car was meant just for you.
My 2009 Smart Car was totaled at the beginning of the covid lockdowns. It was the only new car I ever bought and I babied that thing. (I was always very much against new cars because of the depreciation... but I just fell in love with that car... and I was 3 months away from paying off my house)
Anyway, I called up and cried to my mechanic... who told me he was ready to sell *his* 2015 Smart and would sell it to me for the $$$$ I was getting from insurance. Meant to be.
