The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThanks for the well wishes- and an update
I sincerely appreciate all the well wishes, advice, and support you all extended over the past few hours. It was overwhelming and you all had me emotional. Thank you.
Last night I completed my third round of dialysis and they are optimistic that my kidney function has been restored. Blood tests will confirm that later today.
Today they are focusing on healing my leg and may get to try to get it moving again. Im seriously looking forward to physical therapy because it brings the prospect of mobility back. Being bedridden is not pleasant.
The cardiology team told me I already had the right prescriptions but they are going to increase the dosages. Then in about 3 months they will determine if I need a pacemaker.
All told, the worst seems to have passed and Im certain ill limp out of here in one piece.
Thanks for lifting me up when I was feeling momentarily low.

(18,618 posts)I hope the p.t. recommends exercises for your leg that you can do on your own, and gives you advise on how much and how often to do them. If you can do that, it'll help get you back on your feet.
Really good news about your kidney function. Really good

(33,648 posts)sometimes if you can get moving (and are super nice to the nurses/orderlies) they will give you the code to the supply closet - where there are GOOD snacks! It definitely made my 8 day stay better. I wandered around with my IV heparin drip, got snacks when I was bored, and finally they noticed and sent me home.

(1,679 posts)PT won't be easy but listen and learn. .My daughter is a Pt and I know she has helped so many people. Many of them complained about how hard it was but did the work and were happy they did. Keep your chin up and listen to your PT
