Makes me sad

I can't understand why people think they need to have a designer cat.

A beautiful tortie cat showed up at my house a 5 1/2 years ago and promptly had three kittens on my back porch. As soon as they were old enough I had mama cat spayed, and the kittens were spayed or neutered shortly thereafter. I'm not going to contribute to the cat overpopulation.

9. We have a brother-sister pair of Siamese-mix kittens...

...that we got from a small shelter in Janesville, WI, about an hour away from where we live in northern Illinois. They are almost not kittens anymore, as they are 10 1/2 months old.

They look purebred, but their mom was a tortie, so they are definitely not. The sister is a seal point with bright blue eyes, and the brother is a blue point, with paler blue eyes. The mom had 6 kittens, two of whom did not survive when someone dumped the family outside in the freezing cold of the Wisconsin winter. The woman who runs this small shelter told us that the other 2 surviving kittens were one gray one, and one tortie like mom.

10. You got me wondering about her

I'm glad she has settled down. Her 8 youngest look happy in photos. I thought about how miserable Boebert's and Cruz's children look in photographs. In spite of Suleman's obvious poor judgement all those years ago, she's probably still a better parent than Lauren and Jayson Boebert and Ted Cruz.
