(17,019 posts)anytime a goalie scores, it's a pretty fun event.

(74,939 posts)Right?
I remember one from Sportscenter Top 10 where the goalie "top-shelved" all other 10 guys. Just flipped it over everyone's head and goal!

(17,019 posts)so like my dear, departed mother I've been listening to the Hawks on WGN, rather than paying much broader attention.
I hope to resume in a couple years.
Looking at the stats, I see there was one in February, and only 16 in league history, scored by 13 goalies.

(74,939 posts)Yikes!
They were dreadful this year. That whole organization is a mess right now.
Maybe getting that #1 pick will reverse the slide. This team was good to great for 10 years, then they slammed into the wall.
Still a family owned business with people in jobs they aren't really suited to do.
Just like my Bulls & Bears.

(17,019 posts)and I wasn't perched on the edge of my seat. I never stare at the radio, though, so I can still get some chores done.
The commentary and interviews were a chance to pick up some of the flavor (or stench) of a rebuild, and it's soothing for me somehow to have some familiar noise.
I was especially sorry to see Hagel and Debrincat go; they would've been a nice kernel to build around, but with all those young prospects, bags of draft picks, and a potentially great coach in Richardson on board, I'll stick around.
Hope I can swing an NHL stream soon.

Last week, the Portland Thorns tried the same tactic, bringing the goalie forward to try to tie the game against Angel City. The result was slightly different (watch the player in blue):
And, yeah, we went nuts.
