Not all restaurants need to be named after the owners - especially if their names are Sam & Ella.

(That's how all good sea stories begin.)

Back in my merchant marine days, I was aboard the S.S. Tonsina, and the chief steward was named Ella and the chief cook was named Sal.

It wasn't the best feeder I've been on, but it wasn't the worst, either.

Fairy tales start with "Once upon a time..."

Sea stories start out "This ain't no shit..."

that the name isn't actually pronounced Am-I-gone, more like Ami-jonee or something. But amusing nonetheless!

with the accent on the first syllable. The middle syllable is too soft and unstressed to sound like the word "I." But the last syllable is pronounced like the word "gone." When spoken, it very much does resemble the question, "Am I gone?" Or, "Am a goner."

And it is a funeral business.
