Used to be, airline pilots used radar to steer clear those those cells and fly around

The Paraguayan govt has launched an investigation as to why the pilots chose to fly into the storm

the damage without failing.. Also the engines.. Birds, no..... Hail, yes.. Amazing...

in August, the pilot announced a slight delay in reaching Phoenix due to the need to fly around some bad weather. We were in the vicinity of Tornado Alley when that announcement was made. I remember thinking, "By all means. Please do fly around whatever it is."
