I bit on Bo Diddley, but not what I expected. Saw the Dead and thought Kruetzmann and Diddley are going to play serious "the Bo Diddley rhythm" drum thing......
but totally, differently good. I think Ron was doing the vocals on this.
On edit - 1972....something different than what they were doing world-wide in 72.

he shared the stage with the Grateful Dead for one set at that Academy of Music show.
But I believe they shared the same stage more than once...
Here's the regular Grateful Dead in 1972, playing that Bo Diddley beat, with Garcia singing lead...
