Do you suffer shame and embarrassment due to a stinky smelly toolbox?

Every one of my tool boxes and tool chests stink.

Every time I open one, it's like I'm getting a whiff of the former guy.

And they have smelled the same way for 50 years.

I finally read something about this. It seems to be a common problem.

The cause is likely coming from the plastic handles on old Craftsman brand screwdrivers.

There's a chemical the particular plastic that they used that transforms when you keep it in an enclosed space, therefore causing the smell.

If you Google this, you'll probably find out how to make the smell go away, but I'm just going to let mine stink.

Or maybe I'll just donate them to a friend that doesn't have many tools, and let him find about about the stink himself.

1. They make large packets of activated charcoal you could toss in there to absorb the smell.

5. My SIL's toolbox had a horrible smell, like rotting milk - could not figure out the issue.

Every time I fixed something at her place, the smell was just revolting. She finally threw the toolbox away, and I think most of the tools. I thought they were Stanley branded tools.

I’ve never smelled anything when I open the screwdriver drawer on my tool chest.

for more than two years. Laziness was only one of them, so I don’t think Covid affected my sense of smell.

I have a drawer in a cabinet that always smells like barf!

I often leave it open to 'air it out' but if I close it again - back it comes.
I'll try some of these ideas - thanks for the suggestions!
