Mine is Steve Earles Guitar Town. One of the best country albums ever in my opinion.

(71,212 posts)A collection of liturgical chants from the Byzantine Empire, recorded with an acoustical filter that makes it sound like it was sung in the massive former church in Istanbul.
Absolutely entrancing stuff. It's like traveling back in time a thousand years.

(5,768 posts)Love hearing Justin Hayward's soaring vocals, and the orchestration is magnificent. Originally released in 1978, it still stands up very well.
My sister gave me a copy of the album many years ago when we were both stationed in Germany (at different bases), and since then I've bought 3 or 4 various versions (remastered, CD, a version narrated in German by Kurd Jurgens instead of Richard Burton, etc.).
Had it on yesterday while I was working around the shop and garage.

I've started listening to Stage 4, but I haven't made it through the whole album yet. (And it may not even qualify as a music album if we go by the strict letter of the law.)

(2,539 posts)I went to high school in the 1960s and bought all the Beatles albums as soon as they came out. Except "Revolver", that is. Albums cost about three dollars then and three dollars was a small fortune to me at the time and I couldn't come up with the money when that album came out and so I never bought it. And then, one day two or three years ago I was wandering through Barnes & Noble, and there was the Beatles' "Revolver" on CD and I bought it. And listened to it in my car while I was driving around town. It is one of the Beatles' best albums. Along with "Sgt. Pepper" and the White Album and "Rubber Soul" in my humble opinion. And the Beatles are the best band ever. Nobody else is even close. In my humble opinion.

(65,761 posts)The Beatles remain my favorite band, too. I like these threads where we can find commonality. I dont think they ever did a substandard album.
I am a huge classic rock fan in general. But I am not a music snob - Taylor Swift is a favorite of mine. I just enjoy many different kinds of music.
