A feline that roams New Zealands capital city and is welcomed into tattoo parlours, hairdressers and office towers has become a social media star, with 30,000 followers who track his every movement online.
Mittens first came to attention in 2018 after repeatedly wandering inner-city dwellings, including the university, the post office, and a Catholic church. Mittens was also reportedly taken to the police station by concerned locals.
After repeated encounters with Mittens, an SPCA employee started a Facebook page to reassure locals that the cat wasnt lost and didnt need to be rescued he was just adventurous.
The Facebook page now has 30,000 followers with locals tracking Mittens daily activities around town.

(25,355 posts)2. I noticed at the link that his brother
is a homebody who does not share the wanderlust of Mittens. But I wonder if this wandering trait is common among angoras. I once had a solid black half angora named Merlin. He was supposed to be a house cat, but was forever slipping out the door to wander about, visit several places, and return on his own time. He was so good at escaping that a friend told me I should rename him Houdini.
He acted like a tough guy, above such things as cuddling, but every night (when he was home) he perched on my headboard to keep guard, I guess, while I slept. I often sleep on my stomach and would wake up to find that he had curled up on my back when I was in such a deep sleep stage that I didn't notice.
