1. The truth is always a lot more boring

Kids had a campfire or were playing around with fireworks. Somebody parked his car with a super hot catalytic converter in high grass. There was arc welding somewhere and nobody noticed the sparks had caught. Ditto cutting metal with a carbide saw. Maybe somebody tossed a lit butt out a car window. Electrical wires could have started it in high winds. It wouldn't have taken much in that kind of wind. Mostly, it was a consequence of heat and drought.

You know, the one thing they'll never admit: climate change.
