Trump's Defense In Shambles After New Transcript Released - Farron Balanced

The transcript of the infamous event where Donald Trump boasted about having a classified document in his possession has been released, and it has completely destroyed any legal defense that Trump may have had for the documents case. Trump openly admitted on the tape that he didn't have the power as an ex-president to declassify the document while admitting that it WAS still classified. The only hope Trump has is that his favorite judge might be overseeing the case, and Farron Cousins explains what that could mean.

On Friday to add to Donald Trump's growing list of problems, CNN released the transcript of the infamous meeting where Donald Trump not only boasted about retaining classified information, spilled the beans about that classified information to the people at the gathering, and then also admitted that he didn't have the authority to declassify it. And it was in fact, still classified. This transcript has completely blown up. The only possible legal defense that Donald Trump may have. And that, of course, is to go out there and prove to the judge that, Hey, I declassified all of this, so don't you worry about it because it's declassified. No harm, no foul. Thank you. I'll take my documents and leave. You're on tape admitting that that is not true. So I can't wait to see what Donald Trump's remaining idiot lawyers have to say in court about that. But here is what Donald Trump said on that tape, and we now know, well, with Millie, talking about General Mark Millie, uh, let me see that.

I'll show you an example. He said that I wanted to attack Iran. Isn't that amazing? I have a big pile of papers. This thing just came up. Look, this was him. And at that point, according to the audio, you hear the rustling of papers as if Donald Trump is waving it around, showing people, look at this classified document that I have. He then goes on to say, they presented me this, this is off the record. You probably should have started with that, by the way. But they presented me this, this was him, this was the Defense department, and, and, and him. We looked at some, this was him, okay? For love of God, dude, quit repeating yourself. This wasn't done by me. This was him. I just found, isn't that amazing? This totally wins my case, you know, except it is like highly confidential secret. This is secret information.

Look, look at this. And then once again, you hear rustling as if he's waving it in front of people. He also admitted at one point, of course, he said, as president, I could have declassified, but now I can't. Congratulations, you just lost your case like a hundred percent. You cannot walk away from that. Literally, the only thing that Donald Trump has going for him, and I'll admit this, is a big thing he's got going for him, is that the case, of course, has been assigned to Judge Eileen Cannon, who of course is the Trump appointed judge, who originally got in front of the documents. Case, gave Donald Trump everything he wanted, but even with all that, still wasn't good enough, uh, to prevent all of the horrible things that have happened to him since then. But Judge Cannon, of course, being the judge overseeing this pending, by the way, the DOJ is likely going to request a, uh, different judge. They're gonna say that she needs to recuse herself, point to her past conduct, where she did, by the way, get smacked down

By an appellate court for not doing things properly. So there is a good chance she does get removed from it. There's a chance she doesn't. So let's assume for a minute that she doesn't get recused. You still have all of this evidence, and Judge Cannon does not get to be the one to decide the fate of Donald Trump. In the case that is up to the jury. Of course, we're dealing with the South Florida jury. It's a mixed bag. You could get a whole bunch of Trump supporters there. You could get a whole bunch of Trump haters. We don't know. We'll wait and see. But Judge Cannon, as the judge overseeing it does of course get to, uh, preside over the jury selection. She gets to make the rules for that. So she could skew that in Trump's favor. Um, she gets to decide what evidence can and cannot be presented, so she could skew that in Trump's favor.

And of course, most importantly, if sh if he is convicted, she would be the one that gets to do the sentencing. So she could be like, yeah, you get two hours of community service. Um, so yeah, she could really blow up this case and she could also not have that much of an impact on it. It's gonna remain to be seen. So that's what we're dealing with here.
