2. Yup, he was in charge the entire night amid the chaos and Pelosi told him how to handle it.

McCarthy can't top this speech. So now we're inspirited (from A to Z! ) to get through the next two years.

To us Democrats! The Force!

No doubt. The coup caucus will be his dark shadow death eaters for the next two years, if he dares try any bipartisan deals. Their side is going to get ugly.

And what did McCarthy promise Gaetz? Originally Gaetz threatened to resign if McCarthy became Speaker - or should I say "promised..."

I got flashbacks to the 2004 Democratic Convention with Senator Obama then; you just know there's greatness out there.

Compare and contrast with McCarthy's speech which followed, that was all about him and what they intend to take away from the people.

16. Jeffries speech was historic, looked to the future. As for McCarthy, you didn't miss much.

There was a lot of back-patting, he must have written it before putting the House through three days and 15 tries, not to mention physical confrontations. And he talked about going after administration policies and taking things from the people. It's going to be a long two years, if he lasts that long, and from what we saw of the infighting, I wouldn't bet on it. I'm rooting for Jeffries who has the backing of Pelosi, the support and the vision.

And the way the Republicans were squabbling last night, we can hope that it's sooner rather than later...
