(7,180 posts)If I understand correctly, Putin controls everything the Russian people see and hear about the West. Until that spell is broken, Russia peacefully retreats from Ukraine, and Putin is gone, it will be hard to discuss Russian culture separately from its violent, inhumane current manifestation.

(114,074 posts)but of course it's being deleted in Ukraine and I think they've got a perfect right to be that pissed off. Once Putin is gone and Russia has been kicked out of their country, the books and music will likely return along with other good things like peace and prosperity.
Here, Russian composers are still being featured on the classical music station, books by Russian authors are still on the shelves, Russians and their businesses are not being targeted, so Madame is painting with an overbroad brush here.
So far, the economic sanctions are a nuisance for the yuppies and are forcing dietary changes on the poorest. No one is going to die for the lack of a Starbuck's designer coffee in the morning and a Big Mac for lunch. However, Russia is slowly being isolated from the west, which would seem to provoke a strengthening of Russian culture, not a cancellation of it.
Squawking about "cancel culture" shows us where this female is really at. She's just another cheap propagandist for the Russia/right wing axis.
