Putin Reportedly Believed Ukrainians Would Welcome Russians With Open Arms: Keir Simmons - The ReidOut

The first round of so-called Ukraine-Russia "peace talks" concluded Monday morning at Ukraine’s border with Belarus. While President Zelensky sent high-level officials to negotiate in good faith, the Russian delegation was led by Vladimir Putin’s "adviser on culture,” a choice junior enough that may indicate he has little interest in ending the siege. Ali Velshi in for Joy Reid brings you the latest developments in the Russian invasion of Ukraine from reporters on the ground. Aired on 02/28/2022.

We bombed the hell out them - aren’t you impressed? (Feeding kids much?)

Rhiannon, from my extensive military experience having been a Cav Scout for 3 years it is my acute assessment that the entire Russian Army ran out of gas. Vehicular and personally.

You can’t beat motivation. 🇺🇦

If that realization doesn't put a damper on their motivation - not to mention that thousands of Russian people are risking arrest and worse by protesting Putin's unprovoked war...

That same month — in March 2003 — McCain was parroting the Bush administration’s rosy talk, repeating on many occasions that “we will be greeted as liberators.” Cheney and the administration ignored numerous pre-war intelligence analyses which warned “that the U.S. would face armed resistance from Iraqis following the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime.”

would be over in a few weeks and it would be a glorious thing to do.

I recall Vietnam vets thinking the Vietnamese would welcome them with open arms showering them with flowers and kisses like the French did for soldiers in WW2.

Iraq war vets thought Iraqis would love them for liberating them and giving them democracy.

Seems to be an historical pattern when it comes to war ...

peace time diplomacy from heavily armed soldiers who fire at everything that moves, an abstract concept like Democracy doesn't hold much power.

Doesn't matter what war, what country, who is holding the guns.

The Good Guys are the unarmed civilians, the Bad Guys are the ones with the guns and the abstract reasons for their presence in a country foreign to them.

Simple enough concept, surely?

Not to mention that the rest of the world is united against this unprovoked attack, including thousands of Russian citizens who have taken to the streets in protest, risking arrest or worse.

is Putin in the throes of early Alzheimer's?...I ask because it's not uncommon for Alzheimer's patients to remember the past but not the present...and does he not understand the internet?...young people don't watch television (state controlled)..they live online..while Putin is speaking of "peacekeepers" the video shows bombs dropping, people running for their lives...
