Chuck Todd: Will Biden cost Harris the election?
Analysis: The president isn't on the ballot. But his presidency and voters' harsh feelings about it are setting the mood for the election.https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/chuck-todd-will-biden-cost-harris-election-rcna175421

For a country that seems evenly divided over politics and polarized about many cultural issues, a durable majority does agree about one thing: They dont like the Biden presidency. [Emphasis the OP's.]
And despite the machinations that resulted in President Joe Bidens not being on the ballot this election season, his unpopularity is still the mood music of this election.
But while Biden isnt on the ballot anymore, voters are certainly feeling his presence. If theres one thing its clear they dont want, its a candidate who reminds them of Biden.
By a 2-to-1 ratio (22% positive, 46% negative), voters view the word Bidenomics negatively, including the approximately one-fifth of all voters whom our pollsters deem swing voters people who havent voted straight GOP or Democratic for the White House since 2016.
They tested the word "Bidenomics" for this story, which no Dem has invoked in a year. Todd keeps hammering on how unpopular Biden is. This is a hit piece. MSM "analysts" are continuously on the hunt for a new angle or perspective to report from, and they're analyzing from more and more ridiculous perspectives.
I get that the polling is in opposition to the reality and that people "feel" the economy isn't working for them, when, in fact, it is. THAT should be the angle that the analysts analyze: why is it that the US has the most thriving economy in the world...the lowest unemployment rate in a long time, the lowest inflation rate since forever, the highest GDP in a long time, and on and on.
The real question to analyze is: why are people's "feelings" in opposition to reality, and not "why people's 'feelings' might cost Harris the election". Where does the cynicism come from? Is it that we have it too good and that we have too much time on our hands to ruminate about less relevant things? Is it Republican mis-information?
For fuck's sake this kind of analysis and so-called "reporting" just infuriates me.

(3,366 posts)...external and not under any US control that can be portrayed as a result of Biden administration action or inaction twisting part of the electorate towards Trump or simply not voting Dem when we would otherwise count on that demographic. Clearly Biden has counseled the Israelis if they must strike Iran (before the election) to not hit nuclear sites (potentially provoking Iran to use nuclear weapons, if they have them, but before they lose the capability) and not hit oil facilities for the risk of spiking energy prices, inviting Iran to hit other Gulf states oil capacity or setting off significant worries about supplies with winter fast approaching.

(37,869 posts)Toad's concern, the waning enthusiasm on our side, & the constant "they're already working to steal the election" stories, are there to depress our side. The first two have no merit & the last one, about stealing the election, is only one side of the story.
The other side is they tried this last time & lost almost 100% of their cases, & we have Mark Elias & a whole team of attorneys already responding to lawsuits the right has already filed. Seriously, where the fuck is THAT story? You only hear it on MSNBC, maybe CNN. Our side isn't just sitting here bemoaning the fact that their side is up to no good. And as for those polls that we know they want to use to claim a stolen election, we have Simon Rosenberg with a slew of data about who is doing those polls & who is paying for who is doing those polls. Elias will use this data post-election.
Spread the enthusiasm! Get your friends & family out to vote.

(2,123 posts)However, for all that I think Biden has done some incredible things, right now you're seeing a lot of people getting hit with layoffs. I'm in Seattle, where Microsoft, Amazon, Google and other large tech firms are still cutting staff after a brutal year last year, and Boeing laying of 17,000 isn't helping matters any. All of my wife's siblings have one or both spouses unemployed, and I'm getting by on sporadic contract work. While none of it is Biden's fault, it's easy to lay the blame there if you're not aware of most of the undercurrents.
On the other hand, one of the things that I think that Harris has done is paint herself as not being Biden. She's defending his record (which is good) but she's also making it clear that she has different priorities and approaches
Also, the MSM is unusually quiet about Trump's record or lack thereof. It's easy to say "hey, the economy was great, then Covid hit", but Trump was in office for three years when Covid hit, and the economy was on the edge of being recessionary during most of it. So yes, the MSM definitely has its thumb on the scales.

(2,758 posts)He and other asshats like him intentionally MADE people feel the economy was bad, when it was better than the rest of the industrialized world.
Blamed Biden personally for inflation even though every honest economist said the majority driver was corporate profiteering and price gouging (greedflation) and never called out the hypocrisy of record percentage profits and stock buy backs while corporations were whining about supply chain and post covid issues.
You created this LIE ...that is all you are Chuck, a fucking lying mouthpiece for republican and neonazi propaganda. You are no journalist. You are a paid lying shill, a salesman for fascism, with no spine or moral compass. Just a desire to make as much money as possible while pretending to be a journalist.
If I am honest, will Ferrell was more a journalist in anchor man than Chucky boy you have been in several decades.
Sit down and STFU, Chucky.

(33 posts)Chuck Todd and the other news people asking why people view Bidenomics negatively should take a look in the mirror. They constantly do the same thing. They say the latest report is great news for the economy, but many don't feel optimistic, then they interview a trumper who drives his $70,000, 15mpg truck to the store, and blames Biden for the cost of eggs. People make unwise purchases, they live beyond their means, they have a rose-colored memory of the trump years, and our media airs their opinion with no question.
