(69,838 posts)I post this every now and then. It's time for a rerun.
Note that nobody is getting something for nothing. You aren't pulling a fast one on the Washington Post.
You pay taxes that support your public library. The library pays the databases for access. The databases pay the newspapers for inclusion in the databases. The newspapers pay their employees. No one is cheated along the way.

Because the Washington Post, like the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal., is a national newspaper, it is almost certainly available on your public library's database. As in, available for free, with no paywall.
You don't have to go to the library. Since you're reading this, you have access to a computer. Log into your account at the library and find the database of newspapers. The Post will be there. Ask your librarian for help if you need it.
{edited to add} The library doesn't have to be open. Its website is running 24/7, so you can log in at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning to read the newspaper.
Articles in the Cody, Wyoming, Enterprise, the Fairhope, Alabama, Times, or the Kodiak, Alaska, Daily Mirror might be just a bit harder to find.
I'll keep posting this as many times as I have to.
* Free, in the sense that you pay for it with your taxes. That kind of free.

(6,017 posts)I already use the library and support our local system. I also don't mind advertising on news sites; that has been a successful model forever and still is. I do not however put up with trackers & malware. Give me a site with plain advertisements over a paywall any day.
But that's off-topic. My point was that it's rude & annoying for people to post to a general forum and link to a story or supporting info that not everyone can access in the flow of the forum (which means not having to log into their local library, find the publication, find the correct issue and then find the story).
