Jeanine Pirro has a new target - banks who 'debanked' customers for political reasons

Source: The Independent

Wednesday 10 June 2026 19:01 EDT

Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, is looking into whether major banks have closed customers’ accounts over politics, according to a new report.

Pirro’s office subpoenaed Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and other top banks, seeking information on whether they engaged in debanking — a process by which banks can suddenly close accounts — for political reasons, The Wall Street Journal reported. The banks were asked to list the customers whose accounts were allegedly closed and the reasons why, people familiar with the issue told the outlet.

Debanking typically happens when there’s concern about legal or regulatory risks. The banks maintain that they do not shut down accounts for political reasons, according to the report.

The Independent has reached out to Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase for comment. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia declined to comment when contacted by The Independent.

Because of illegal activity.

Or once was once recognized as illegal activity?

They also care about their situation being politicized as they don't want to discourage business.

This is a grab for an enemies list, or a grab to try and build ammo to attack certain banks for their practices, which are probably the opposite of 'debanking', and more like being honest and not letting people buy stupid Grump crap.

Then it should be perfectly fine for the administration to do this same thing to....whoever the fuck they want, really...

Global, liburl communist banks hate us, etc, etc, etc....it's prima facia complete fucking nonsense; that's why it makes complete sense to the nations idiots. They're the victims, ALWAYS, under all circumstances whatsoever.

cancelling accounts because they disagree with a customer's political persuasions.
Banks, however, do prefer to avoid investigations and harm to their reputations. If some banks are indeed closing accounts of prominent Republican operatives (Jeanine Pirro wouldn't concern herself with the closure of accounts of Democrats), it would only be because the banks suspected that the funds are tainted with illegality.

ill gotten gains from fraudulently recorded business transactions through accounts in their banks. Would Judge Pirro rather that the banks expose themselves to political liability of freezing a prominent person's assets?

What if said customer has transactions with narcos or people like Epstein?

It’s almost their same MO. Complain about MAGA detractors doing something (often with extreme exaggerations), and then doing it themselves, often claiming they were forced to do it / it’s ok to do because the “other side did it.”

I wouldn't ever use that cake decorator myself personally because of their decision and I'd also steer people who are looking for a cake decorator elsewhere.

…for when the Trump Administration begins mass “debanking” of citizens it’s declared terrorists?

Because that includes lots of us on the left now.

The White House will prioritize the “neutralization” of groups it considers “anti-American, radically pro-transgender, and anarchist.”
