Trump's Ex-Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino Declares He Wants to Deport Nearly One-Third of the People in the U.S.

Gregory Bovino, who previously served as Border Patrol Commander in President Donald Trumps administration, responded to reports he was considering running for president with a declaration about his preferred immigration policies that included some mathematically ludicrous figures.
Bovinos tenure as Border Patrol commander occurred during a period of growing backlash to Trumps immigration crackdown, sparking nationwide protests and multiple court challenges, especially after two fatal shootings of U.S. citizens in Minneapolis: Renee Good on Jan. 7 by ICE agent Jonathan Ross, and Alex Pretti on Jan. 24 by Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez. Polling shows public opinion has significantly soured on the Trump administrations immigration policies, even among Republicans.
The controversy ultimately led to the ouster of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in March and Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) taking her place; DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin exited the month prior. Bovino himself was defenestrated from his position in January shortly after the shootings of Pretti and Good, reassigned out of Minneapolis, and then his retirement was announced. On Monday, NewsNation reported that Bovino was considering running for president in 2028, including on-the-record quotes from him and a Bovino 2028 website he had launched and the slogan Men Fight Back..
Later Monday afternoon, Bovino shared the NewsNation report on X, along with a lengthy tweet of his own declaring the kind of immigration policies he would support. Wrote Bovino:
NewsNation is reporting Im exploring a run for President in 2028.
Heres the truth: My one and only priority is deporting the 106 million illegals who are here. Thats it.

(14,278 posts)You know, Ann Couler's little dream of only third-generation people voting (with "at least" four grandparents born here... like there could be more than four). Bovino would love to require non-white people to prove third-generation status to stay here. No need for proofs from white people. Doncha know the U.S. isn't a nation built on ideas, it's the white ethnic homeland?
Just imagine how many they could deport if they decided non-whites had to produce birth certificates proving status as a third-generation 'Merican?
Person X's birth certificate with both father and mother named.
Matching birth certificate for X's father, with their father (X's paternal grandfather) and mother (X's paternal grandmother) named.
Matching birth certificate for X's mother, with their father (X's maternal grandfather) and mother (X's maternal grandmother) named.
Matching birth certificates for each of the following to prove they were born here:
X's named paternal grandfather
X's named paternal grandmother
X's named maternal grandfather
X's named maternal grandmother
It's my understanding that the federal government and Native American tribes have extensive and accurate record-keeping, so, presumably they'd have no trouble providing proofs (unless the "this is a White Christian homeland" wingnuts somehow disallowed).
Of course, African Americans would be disproportionately tossed out by Jim Crow segregation and discriminatory hospital policies that left many with no "official" certificate for home births.

(5,366 posts)Most of the foreign born are either naturalised citizens or permanent residents with 10-12 million undocumented.
I guess his theory will be that children born here to non-citizens are not actually natural-born as per the 14th Amendment.
Its an idiotic idea on its face that would collapse the economy. You cant take 30% of the population out of an economy without tanking housing prices, creating massive labour shortages, decimating agricultural production, etc., etc. The US is not overpopulated by any stretch of the imagination. If there is a problem its that economic opportunity is concentrated in the urban centers causing people to move there in disproportionate numbers. There are enough stupid and dogmatically driven people in the GOP that Bovino might get some traction as the heir to Trump on immigration.
