As President Donald Trump is set to soak in a bloody UFC brawl outside the White House on his birthday Sunday, his family is getting behind $12,000 gold coins promoting the fight card.
The Trump Organization run by the presidents sons, Eric and Donald Jr. and the multibillion-dollar mixed martial arts company have partnered to sell a collection of Freedom 250-themed silver and gold coins branded with the presidents face and in a case that features a label with his signature on it.
The coins, which are set to drop Tuesday, range from nearly $250 to $12,000 apiece and also include a portrait of Trumps bud, UFC boss Dana White, on the label.
The medallions are billed as a way to commemorate both Americas 250th birthday and a defining patriotic moment between Trump and the UFC, per the website of Trump Coins, which says it partners with the Trump Organization and suggests the president designed the medallions and other coins.

The UFC event is set to air on a streaming platform operated by a Trump-aligned CEO, as well. (Note: A lawsuit filed by a watchdog group that looks to block the event from taking place on Sunday is awaiting further judicial review.)

(8,668 posts)Meanwhile, I would advise every Trump cult member to stock up on these coins; cash in your IRAs and 401ks, sell the house and the truck with the 10 foot flag in the back, borrow every penny and max out every credit card to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

(3,915 posts)the obvious grift surrounding this ridiculous event, or the yabbering about it being blood-soaked as if it was a gladiatorial combat to the death with rusty knives. It's a UFC event - half of it is kayfabe and the other is just the usual MMA.
I'm more interested in seeing it turn into a ridiculous debacle.

This is not to be confused with Trump-branded shoes, guitars, Bibles, watches, digital trading cards, or phones. #grift

MS NOWs Jake Traylor and Soorin Kim reported Tuesday that there are Trump-branded medallions on sale, tied to this weekends UFC event on the White Houses South Lawn.
The souvenir gold and silver coins range in price from $249.99 to $11,999.99. Thats not a typo: A website called RealTrumpCoins.com is actually selling UFC Freedom 250 medallions that people can purchase for just under $12,000. (The website boasts that the coins were designed by the president himself.)

....To be sure, the scheduled UFC bout, set to coincide with the presidents 80th birthday, was already controversial, and not just because of the bizarre structure that continues to take shape at the White House. There have also been related questions about Trumps stock purchase in UFCs parent company before the upcoming match on the South Lawn.....
The $12,000 gold coins, however, take this mess to a new and unsettling level.
This week, a new lawsuit was filed alleging corruption in connection with the upcoming UFC event, with the hopes of derailing the plans for the gathering, and a judge is expecting a response by Tuesday. Watch this space
