Meteor over Massachusetts causes explosion reports, sightings from Delaware to Montreal
Source: Politico
The American Meteor Society said that the booms heard about 2:30 p.m. were actually caused by a meteor about 3 feet wide entering the atmosphere around the New Hampshire border with Massachusetts, north of Boston.
People in a handful of states posted on social media about feeling the buildings they were in shaking. Several videos posted on X also captured what sounded like two quick booms, with no fire, smoke or other visual causes.

I don't believe in coincidences, I believe in synchronicity. Watching YouTube meteor films is an example.

(55,641 posts)"Meteoroids are distinguished as objects significantly smaller than asteroids, ranging in size from grains to objects up to one meter (3.28 feet) wide. Objects smaller than meteoroids are classified as micrometeoroids or space dust. Many are fragments from comets or asteroids, whereas others are collision impact debris ejected from bodies such as the Moon or Mars."

(4,863 posts)... breaking the sound barrier. When I was a kid, 70 years ago, fighter jets breaking the sound barrier were not uncommon, until they were ordered to stop doing it. When they did it at low altitudes over residential areas, the shock waves would shatter windows. Tommy B's dad did it once over Drumlin Road in Westport, and the neighbors were NOT happy. Us kids thought it was cool as hell.

(55,641 posts)Many times. Military pilots were trying to locate the hijacked planes' location and tried to catch up with them from various military air bases. From the recordings made of that tragic day I heard a pilot say, "I don't care how many windows we brake" since they had an important mission to save the hijacked planes.
