Tiny pro-Trump Idaho town 'nearly destroyed' by ICE raid: 'What in the world is going on?'

Source: Raw Story

February 9, 2026 12:39PM ET

Residents of the tiny Idaho town of Wilder are waiting for the next shoe to drop after federal agents descended on the community in mid-October and arrested more than 100 Hispanic locals at an unlicensed race track that had long been a part of the community, according to a report.

Local farmers in the town, which has a population of 1,725, now face uncertainty as harvest season approaches with significantly reduced labor availability. Many Hispanic workers were detained during the operation, while others are lying low for fear of additional raids.

Wilder residents, living in an area where 91 percent of voters supported Trump in 2024, believed their remote location would shield them from the aggressive immigration enforcement operations affecting larger cities, the New York Times reported. That assumption proved wildly incorrect. The October raid on La Catedral Arena, a horse racetrack west of town, resulted in at least 75 deportations to date.

Second-generation farmer Chris Gross expressed concern about community viability. "We rely on Hispanic labor," he said. "Nobody thought something like this could happen here."

pissed their taken neighbors were their laborers. Anyone not blinded by racism and misogyny to see it coming everywhere and too stubborn to listen to all those you did see it coming.

Seemingly no problem that people were abused and taken away. Just the loss of labor.

I was working in that business, they were customers of it, and it nearly fucking killed me to keep my mouth shut. But NEVER have I wished more than then that I had the power of the Neuman character from "The Boys".

I hate those fucks, what they've done to this country, and are still doing. They are racist, hateful pigs. And it is what they want.

And yeah, almost entirely Mexican migrant farmers. This story leaves out the best leopard eating part, this is the Snake River Valley, this is big time, almost entirely hops. The headline should read, Trump policies just dramatically increased production costs for the shitty beer his followers like to drink.

he doesn't expect to ever be out of power. The Christian Nationalists are in it for the long haul. In their view, all they have to do is make sure they win the elections (and they will do what they have to in order to ensure that), and then they can make the world they want.

The USA is now in the hands of narcissists, true-believers, fellow-travelers, sociopaths and psychopaths, children and an old man.
Everything from FDR to Obama-Biden is tainted in the minds of the maga-mad-mobs, and must be undone.
The republican rabble and politically careless are about to learn that actions have consequences and the worst are those undesired and unexpected results that come as collateral gifts while one is enjoying their point-of-view of the deportations, for which they voted.
An America of successful maga-madness is a world of inflation, repression, depression, decreased choices, more murders and war.
Institutional government knowledge will be wiped out. Truth will be censored. Libraries will become trashed and musky.
As with the deported, the lives of the maga-mad will not be benefited, they will not be happy and will demand more blood.
The warriors called police and soldiers will be glorified for risking their lives to wipe out the evils of liberalism, weed, and the twentieth century.

"We rely on Hispanic labor," he said.

So lets vote for mass deportations of the people we depend upon. Strategic thinking is not this dude's strong suit.
